Eating for Blood Types

The basics of eating for your blood type
According to Dr. D’adamo of “Eat right for your blood type” our blood type is one of the most fundamental elements of our being. He says that it predicts how our body reacts to climate, our mood patterns, emotional patterns and our immunity… everything. Dr. D’adamo also states that certain foods are incompatible with certain blood types, and can cause a type of stasis known as “agglutination” where blood cells become sticky and make difficult all sorts of physiological functions.
I tend to see truth in Dr. D’adamo’s theory. I definitely see how blood, a vital substance, can influence the body physiology on a very deep level- the ancient Chinese say it is the foundation for our spirit. Knowing that, and comparing it to our evolutionary history as Dr. D’adamo does, the assumptions he makes that as human blood evolved to meet the changing dietary patterns of early human to modern man, we became “specialized” for certain foods and other environmental conditions- depending on what our blood type was.
Type O- The primal blood type- Hunter & gatherers.
Specialized for: Animal flesh & products, highly tied to survival instincts, tends toward anger, physical movement & rigorous exercise crucial to well-being.
Emphasize: Lean Meats, raw foods, kelp, seafood, natural salts, kale, spinach.
Limit: Beans & Legumes.
Avoid: Wheat, corn, cabbage, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, mustard greens.
Type A- the Agrarian- Settlers and farmers.
Specialized for: Agriculture products, fruits, veggies. Tends to be nervous or more easily stressed. More suited for endurance exercises and moderate physical movements. May require more breaks, naps and rest than type O. Thrives on routine.
Emphasis: VEGETARIANISM! Veggies, soy, seafood, grains, beans, legumes, fruit, oils, high enzyme foods like pineapple.
Limit: Meat, esp red meat.
Avoid: Wheat, KD beans, lima beans, dairy.
Type B- The Nomad- Gypsies (and thieves) and explorers.
Specialized for: VARIETY!! A very experimental and creative blood type. Can handle dairy a bit better than other blood types because your food had to walk with you as you traveled. Must wander, walk, cycle or find some exercise where physical ground is covered to remain happy and healthy.
Emphasis: Balanced omnivore. Meats, dairy, grains, beans, legumes, veggies, fruits, eggs, teas & spice.
Limit: Extreme diets, bland foods, dietary routine.
Avoid: Corn, lentils, peanuts, buckwheat, wheat.
Type AB- The Modern blood type.
The most refined blood type yet, blending the best (and worst) of each blood type, with a modern world set as the back drop. Over-population is felt in your blood type and you require small, but more frequent meals. The call to evolve consciously is especially strong, and acknowledging spirituality is essential to good health. As is moderate exercise and social interaction, but beware of microbe infections and pandemic disease caused by all this globalization.
Emphasis: Moderation. Meats, seafood, dairy, soy, beans, legumes, grains, veggies, high enzyme fruits.
Limit: Corn, buckwheat, seeds, red meat. (industrial foods)
