Weakness, sweating, shortness of breath, anxiety, palpitations, nausea, light headedness.
Diet Therapy for Angina:
The principal goals of nutritional therapy for angina are to improve the blood flow to the heart and the energy metabolism of the heart so that it requires less oxygen.
The first step is to consume less saturated fat and cholesterol.
Magnesium in your diet will improve the energy metabolism, as well as help hydration and heart muscle contraction. Include plenty of leafy green vegetables, such as spinach, kale, mustard greens and turnip greens. These are good sources of magnesium.
Studies show that a diet that includes no animal products except for skim milk, egg whites, and low fat yogurt, helps reduce and eliminate angina pain in a few weeks. When was the last time you saw a vegetarian have a heart attack?
Eat plenty of fiber.
Eat plenty of raw foods.
Include micro-greens for their protein and detoxifying abilities. Examples are chlorella, spirulina, and blue-green algae.
Include in the diet garlic, onions, and lecithin. They are shown to reduce serum cholesterol levels.
Add raw nuts (except pea nuts), virgin olive oil, if eating fish use: pink salmon, trout, tuna, Atlantic herring, and mackerel to your diet. These foods contain essential fatty acids.
Limit coffee and black tea, that contain caffeine. Also avoid tobacco, alcohol, chocolate, sugar, butter, red meat, fats (especially hydrogenated oils and animal fats), fried foods, and processed and refined foods.
Keep in mind, even modest changes in diet and lifestyle can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease.
Don’t forget to eat foods low in cholesterol, saturated fat and salt.
Fatty acids in fish contain Omega 3 that was shown to be effective in preventing heart diseases. Similarly, taking moderate quantities of red wine was also found to be beneficial.
Studies have shown that taking L-carnitine (500 mg twice daily), 50 mg vitamin B6, 100 mg vitamin C and coenzyme Q10 (50-100 mg 3 times daily) on an empty stomach reduces the risk of heart disease.
Calcium 1,500 to 2,000 mg and Magnesium 750-1,000 mg daily is important for the proper functioning of the cardiac muscles.
Garlic - Lowers blood pressure and thins the blood.
Lecithin granules - 1 tbsp. 3 times daily – acts as the fat emulsifier.
